Employing the model based systems engineering methodologies to develop a domain specific language for contracting of infrastructure projects

Abstract: The procurement of infrastructure systems by the public sector is very costly, long and not transparent since the processes are based on preparing huge amounts of documents which are difficult to be kept consistent and to be used (e.g. bid evaluation). Acquisition architecture frameworks (AF) are metamodels, developed to model the whole enterprise/system life cycle stages including system procurement. Our previous study analyzed the currently used AFs such as DoDAF, MoDAF and TRAK to assess their adequacy and … Show more

“…Transport systems around the world are increasingly expected to meet higher levels of performance, reliability and sustainability. In particular, there are clear trends to develop better integrated transport systems that recognize that commuters often engage several modes of transport to get to their destination (Shirvani, Perez, Campbell, & Beydoun, 2018). A higher level of knowledge and control of infrastructure "Systems of Systems" is increasingly required to manage their complex operation, maintenance and evolution.…”

“…The model-driven approaches are widely used in managing the complexities of interrelated domains such as procurement projects. Rather than aim for a comprehensive and a complete model, in our previous studies [1] [2] we attempt for developing a metamodel which can pull together the various, disparate and partial models that attempt to describe the procurement domain knowledge systematically. The development of a metamodel requires a systematic process called metamodeling that makes statements about what can be expressed in the valid models of the knowledge domain [3].…”
