“…When PA was compared to NGS, 37 miRNAs were highly expressed and 11 miRNAs were downregulated, specially miR-21, miR-29a, miR-34a, and miR-140-5p. 1,15,27,30,31 In our study, residual PA demonstrated CN loss in miR-21 and miR-34a genes and CN gain in miR-140, which agrees with the expected expression pattern observed in the literature in PA. Additionally, the CXPA group had CN loss of the miR-34a and miR-140 genes and CN gain in the miR-21, miR-29a, miR-34a, and miR-140 genes. The comparison of PA with other malignant SGTs was performed by Ramachandran and colleagues (2014) 26 and Ianez in 2016.…”

“…According to the literature, only nine studies investigated the expression of miRNAs in PA using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction technique. 1,15,[26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33] The PAs were compared with normal salivary glands (NSG), CXPA, residual PA, ACC, EMC, MEC, and CXPA. A summary of the main findings can be found in Supplementary Material Table S2.…”

“…In salivary gland tumor tissue samples, miR-155, miR-200c, miR-9, miR-138, and miR-200c were differentially expressed in pleomorphic adenoma (PA), mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC), and adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC). The obtained results show that the EMT transformation of salivary gland tumors is controlled by different transcriptional regulators [142]. These miRNAs targeting non-transcription factors to modulate EMT in major cancers are listed in Table 2.…”

“…These proteins promote invasion and metastasis. Conversely, c-kit expression was associated with perineural infiltration and tumor grade in AdCC [ 56 , 150 ]. Pan-cancer analysis has shown an activating IGF-1R hotspot non-frameshift insertions, which were significantly enriched in AdCC.…”
