Enabling industrial scale simulation / emulation models

Abstract: OLE Process Control (OPC) is an industry standard that facilitates the communication between PCs and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). This communication allows for the testing of control systems with an emulation model. When models require faster and higher volume communications, limitations within OPC prevent this. In this paper an interface is developed to allow high speed and high volume communications between a PC and PLC enabling the emulation of larger and more complex control systems and their mode… Show more

“…However, successful progression in the foreign language cannot be automatically assumed. It appears dependent on factors such as linguistic continuity in secondary education (Martin 2000), as well as other variables such as the length of exposure to the language, individual aptitude, teaching quality and motivation (Johnstone 2003).…”

“…The Arezzo emulator corresponds to this situation #2. It aims at easing the switch to situation #1 with the less possible effort, enabling the evaluation "on the lab/office not on the plant floor" [M1, S1], thus reducing time, cost and effort [JC1]. In other words, our will is that any Bench4star-based designed control system can be indifferently connected to the AIPPrimeca cell or to Arezzo.…”

“…Stochastic process times, machine breakdowns, failure to complete a task, and need to rework are among factors that contribute to the uncertainty accumulation within BHS. Further information about BHS and its internal operation can be found in (Johnstone, Creighton, & Nahavandi, 2007;Khosravi et al, 2009;Le et al, 2007) and within references.…”
