Enabling IoT automation using local clouds

Abstract: Abstract-Various forms of cloud computing principles and technologies are becoming important recently. This paper addresses cloud computing for automation and control applications. It's argued that the open Internet cloud idea has such limitations that its not appropriate for automation.Since automation is physically and geographically local, it is inevitable to introduce the concept of local automation clouds. It's here proposed that local automation clouds should be self contained an be able to execute the i… Show more

“…To corroborate this saving, previous research conducted by Delsing et al. [15] shows that the use of the Arrowhead framework saves development time/efforts, related to industrial IoT and cloud services, in the range of approximately 70-80%. Thus, this ought to be of interest also for other companies and organizations involved in development activities related to the industrial internet and IoT.…”

“…Cloud innovations are pointed at provisioning steady and shared computational and storage assets to different clients and applications [3]. Public cloud is described as computing services publicized by third-party providers over the Internet, making them open to anyone who needs to use or get them [3] [4]. They may be free or sold ondemand, empowering customers to pay simply examine for the CPU cycles, the capacity they use or bandwidth [4].…”

“…Thus, there are empowered real time performance and security, combined with straightforward and low-cost building manufacturing, and at the same time, versatility through multi-cloud association is empowered. SOA technology together with the Arrowhead Framework orchestration system can lead to a service composition within a wireless network with IoT devices that minimizes the drawbacks of local cloud technology and increases the performance and robustness of the system [38].…”
