Abstract:Essential oil of Mentha spicata L. var. viridis 'Ganga', an indigenously developed variety, was chemically profiled using various gas chromatographic techniques. Piperitenone oxide was characterized as the most exclusive constituent (69.7%) along with a new C 3-oxygenated p-menthane alcohol, diosphenolene (1.6%). Enantiomeric discrimination revealed (4S)-(-)-limonene, (R)-(-)-linalool and (1S,2S)-(+)-piperitenone oxide as predominant enantiomers. The oil contained mainly C 3-oxygenated p-menthane monoterpenoid… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
