Bone regeneration materials (BRMs) bring us new sights into the clinical management bone defects. With advances in BRMs technologies, new strategies are emerging to promote bone regeneration. The aim of this study was to comprehensively assess the existing research and recent progress on BRMs, thus providing useful insights into contemporary research, as well as to explore potential future directions within the scope of bone regeneration therapy. A comprehensive literature review using formal data mining procedures was performed to explore the global trends of selected areas of research for the past 20 years. The study applied bibliometric methods and knowledge visualization techniques to identify and investigate publications based on the publication year (between 2002 and 2021), document type, language, country, institution, author, journal, keywords, and citation number. The most productive countries were China, United States, and Italy. The most prolific journal in the BRM field was Acta Biomaterialia, closely followed by Biomaterials. Moreover, recent investigations have been focused on extracellular matrices (ECMs) (370 publications), hydrogel materials (286 publications), and drug delivery systems (220 publications). Research hotspots related to BRMs and extracellular matrices from 2002 to 2011 were growth factor, bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-2, and mesenchymal stem cell (MSC), whereas after 2012 were composite scaffolds. Between 2002 and 2011, studies related to BRMs and hydrogels were focused on BMP-2, in vivo, and in vitro investigations, whereas it turned to the exploration of MSCs, mechanical properties, and osteogenic differentiation after 2012. Research hotspots related to BRM and drug delivery were fibroblast growth factor, mesoporous materials, and controlled release during 2002–2011, and electrospinning, antibacterial activity, and in vitro bioactivity after 2012. Overall, composite scaffolds, 3D printing technology, and antibacterial activity were found to have an important intersection within BRM investigations, representing relevant research fields for the future. Taken together, this extensive analysis highlights the existing literature and findings that advance scientific insights into bone tissue engineering and its subsequent applications.

Background Goal setting and goal-focused work is widely used in young people’s mental health settings. However, little is known about how, why or for whom this is helpful. This study aims to explore the mechanisms of collaborative goal setting as part of therapeutic relationships: is it helpful for young people experiencing anxiety and/or depression, how and why/not, for whom, and under what circumstances? Methods Online database searches generated 10,907 records. Seven unique studies are included, combined with insight analysis from directed discussions with international advisors with lived experience of anxiety and/or depression and therapy (N = 8; mean age = 20.8), and mental health academics/clinicians (N = 6). Results Findings are presented as a narrative synthesis and suggest that goal setting is helpful to young people experiencing anxiety and/or depression because it helps build good therapeutic relationships through open communication and building trust. Goal setting helps make things more manageable, enabling young people to feel supported and have ownership of their care. Individual preferences, or high levels of distress, trauma, low confidence, hopelessness, negative past experiences of goal setting, perfectionism, and rumination are considered limiting factors to goal setting. Additionally, contextual factors including country and long-term therapy are explored. Conclusion Whilst the resultant sample is small, emphasis on the voices of young people in the research is both prominent and of paramount importance. Several key literature gaps are identified, including evidenced links to the reduction in symptoms. Priority must be given to researching unhelpful mechanisms of goal setting for young people experiencing anxiety and/or depression, to avoid any potential iatrogenic effects.

IntroductionThe transition from paediatric to adult diabetes care in youth-onset diabetes (type 1 diabetes mellitus, Y-T1DM and type 2 diabetes mellitus, Y-T2DM) is associated with worsening glycaemic control, missed clinical visits, decreased medication adherence and the emergence of cardiometabolic complications. The socio-ecological challenges that influence transitioning to adult diabetes care may be distinct between Y-T1DM and Y-T2DM. The goal of this scoping review is to map the state of the literature on transitioning care in Y-T2DM compared with Y-T1DM and to identify the main sources and types of evidence available. The objectives are : (1) to identify the factors within the socio-ecological framework (individual, relationship, community, societal) associated with transitioning to adult care in Y-T2DM compared with Y- T1DM, and (2) to identify knowledge gaps related to transitioning to adult care.MethodsThe scoping review protocol and reporting will follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for scoping reviews guidelines. A systematic search of scientific databases (PubMed, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health, Scopus and APA PsycNet will be undertaken for articles between 1 January 1990 and 30 September 2022. Study designs will include peer-reviewed experimental and quasi-experimental published studies without language or country-specific restrictions. We will exclude articles on other diabetes subtypes and will exclude non-peer reviewed articles such as opinion papers, anecdotal reports or supplementary commentaries.AnalysisReferences will be collated, sorted and extracted using Covidence. Factors associated with transition from paediatric to adult diabetes care in Y-T1DM and Y-T2DM will be identified using the socio-ecological framework and results will be presented in narrative format, tables, and summary graphs.Ethics and disseminationEthical approval will not be applicable for this review.Trial registration numberhttps://osf.io/k2pwc.
