Abstract: Asthma is an incurable chronic disease affecting approximately 24 million people in the UnitedStates. The hallmark features of asthma are reversible airflow obstruction, airway hyperresponsiveness, airway inflammation, bronchoconstriction, and excessive mucus secretion.
