Endometriosis of the Bartholin gland: a case report and review of the literature

Abstract: Background: In this case report we present a case of endometriosis in the Bartholin gland without surgery in the perineal area. So far, only five cases concerning endometriosis in the Bartholin gland, which may or may not be an isolated finding, have been reported in the literature. In three reported cases, during marsupialization of what was thought to be a Bartholin cyst, chocolate colored fluid drained from the mass, and the diagnosis was confirmed by pathology [3,6,8].
