“…They concluded eMRI is only accurate in a minority of highly selected high risk hypervascular tumours. 42 43 Other modalities including transrectal ultrasound (TRUS), pelvic CT and body coil MRI are not sufficiently accurate to detect extracapsular extension. TRUS is no better than DRE in predicting extracapsular extension in prospective multicentre studies.…”

“…In the study by Cornud et al, 3 who used CDI, no significant difference in sensitivity was found between 94 men with serum PSA concentrations less than 10 ng/ml (80%) and 245 men with PSA concentrations greater than 10 ng/ml (78%). In their subsequent report, 19 there was no significant difference between the serum PSA ranges in 42 cases of positive PDI and 52 cases of negative PDI. On the basis of these negative associations between PSA and tumor vascularity, it may be reasonable to suggest that the difference in sensitivity resulted from ethnic differences among the populations studied.…”

“…Cornud et al 19 reported significant differences in pathologic stage, number of positive biopsy cores, biopsy Gleason score, and Gleason score for specimens from radical prostatectomy in men with positive (n = 48) and negative (n = 46) results for CDI. In their study, detectability of tumor vascularity was directly related to the number of positive biopsy cores and the Gleason score obtained with specimens from both the biopsy and the radical prostatectomy.…”

“…Studies suggest that on CDUS and PDUS, hypervascular and hypovascular lesions are associated with higher and lower Gleason scores, respectively (Fig. 1B) (17,18).…”
