Endoscopic Cross-Trigonal Ureteral Reimplantation Under Carbon Dioxide Bladder Insufflation: A Novel Technique

Abstract: This early experience illustrates that endoscopic intravesical ureteral mobilization and crosstrigonal ureteral reimplantation can be performed safely and effectively with routine laparoscopic surgical techniques and instruments under CO(2) insufflation of the bladder, achieving a high success rate in reflux resolution that is equivalent to that obtained with the open technique but with minimal invasiveness and much faster recovery. The longer-term outcome and potential physiological effects of CO(2) pneumoves… Show more

“…TLCUR for treatment of vesicoureteral reflux has been reported from various institutions since 2001; however, still very few centers have attempted to utilize this technique. [2][3][4] This is the first report of the use of TLCUR in the treatment of duplex kidney and ureters with and without ureterocele. The investigators did study a new technique in two groups of patients with reflux into duplex kidneys and recurrent febrile urinary tract infections: five patients with ureterocele who underwent prior endoscopic incision, and five with two intravesical ureteric orifices and no ureterocele.…”

Yeung (8) ve Borzi 2004 yılında mesaneyi CO 2 ile şişirerek mesane içi Cohen tipi üreteroneosistostomi işlemini hayvan modelinde tanımlamış, C K Yeung (9) 2005 yılında bu yöntemin Cohen tipi üreteral reimplantasyondaki klinik sonuçlarını yayınlamış ve yük-sek başarı oranı bildirmiştir.…”

“…Successful laparoscopic reimplantation has also been described. [29] Robotics can be similarly implemented in the various ureteral reimplantation techniques, i.e., extravesical and vesicoscopic. [30][31][32][33][34] The visualization of the lower pole ureter is aided in this 6 month old infant by a 3 Fr whistle tip catheter placed cystoscopically prior to the robotic manipulation.…”
