“…Recently, ESD has been applied to the treatment of rectal carcinoid tumors [7][8][9][10][11]. However, the number of reported sample cases of rectal carcinoid tumors treated with ESD remains insufficient, and the safety and efficacy of ESD for gastric and duodenal carcinoid tumors have not been elucidated to date.…”

“…Concurrently, ESD has recently been reported to be useful for treating colorectal superficial tumors [12,13]. Moreover, ESD has frequently been reported to be useful for treatment of rectal carcinoid [15][16][17][18]. However, ESD has the disadvantage of a high frequency of complications, including bleeding and perforation, which is a particularly difficult challenge [30].…”

“…Concurrently, Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), which enables en bloc resection regardless of tumor size, has recently been reported to be useful for treating colorectal superficial tumors [12][13][14]. There are many reports on the efficacy of ESD to treat colorectal carcinoids [15][16][17][18]. However, because ESD has the disadvantages of a high frequency of complications and need for advanced technical skills, this technique is not yet a standard treatment.…”

“…The tumor diameters measured by EUS showed no significant difference with those measured during postoperative pathology. EUS had an accuracy of 100% in determining the depth of NEN invasion (7). By EUS the lesion of this patient was mainly located in the mucosa and submucosa layers of the intestinal wall and parts of the lesion had close relationships with the proper basal layer.…”
