Abstract:In 2020, it is estimated that 43,000 new cases of primary de novo rectal cancer will be diagnosed within the USA. Rectal cancer T stage accuracy of EUS has room for improvement. Fine needle aspiration (FNA) or biopsy has emerged as an essential component of loco-regional clinical staging. FNA can identify M1a disease and may upstage 7% of patients presenting for evaluation.
