“…In particular, stent migration has been commonly reported in the literature, ranging from 16–34% . Techniques to prevent migration include appropriate stent size, design of stents, or methods to secure the stent in place . Multiple techniques to endoscopically secure stents or keels exist, but these are oftentimes tedious and cumbersome, and can even require devoted surgical instruments (ie, Lichtenberger needle) .…”

“…Migration of stent is still a serious clinical issue, with a reported migration rate of 16.6–24% in silicone stents [ 12 , 13 ] and 2.2–6.4% in metal stent [ 12 , 14 ]. Thus, it calls for effective measures to prevent the tracheal stents from migrating.…”

“…Martinez-Ballarin et al reported the rate of migration of stents as 17.5%, [ 11 ] and Park et al found migration of stents in 34% patients [ 9 ]. Migration of silicone stents is reported to be 16.6–24%, [ 12 , 13 ] and migration of metal stent is reported as 2.2–6.4% [ 12 , 14 ]. Stent migration brings a lot of pain to the patient and increase therapy cost.…”

“…Therefore, some authors have investigated the feasibility of tracheobronchial stent placement under direct visual control without using fluoroscopy. 15,17,18 Laryngologists are not routinely involved in many interdisciplinary airway stenting teams, although their experience with endoscopic airway procedures should encourage them to participate in the endoscopic management of these patients. 15…”
