“…Aneurysms at this location are at a high risk of ischemic stroke in the territory of the ipsilateral MCA (either from distal emboli during the procedure or clot formation at the level of the neck with impairment of distal MCA flow), a potential source of serious morbidity and mortality. 4,16,17 In our meta-analysis, perioperative morbidity rates were approximately 4% and mortality rates were 3%. Perioperative stroke was a major contributor to morbidity and mortality, occurring in approximately 3% of patients.…”

“…Possible treatments for these aneurysms are microsurgical clipping or endovascular coiling 1–3 9 10. Microsurgical clipping results can be affected by inappropriate manipulation or occlusion of perforators and end-arteries such as the anterior choroidal artery, the recurrent artery of Heubner, the medial and lateral lenticulostriate arteries and perforators emerging from the ICAb itself 1.…”

“…Endovascular treatment of ICAb aneurysms can be accomplished by different techniques, such as balloon remodeling, stent-assisted coiling, and the dual microcatheter technique 9. These modalities may be efficacious; however, the long-term recanalization rates in this modality remain a significant limitation 9 10…”
