Abstract:Here, we report a novel two-dimensional (2D) Au2Sb superstructure on Au(111) that exhibits both consistencies and discrepancies with the expected electronic features of an ideal 2D surface alloy with \(\:\sqrt{3}\times\:\sqrt{3}\) periodicity. Using spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, we observe a spin splitting of the alloy bands with antiparallel spin polarization, stemming from Rashba spin-orbit coupling. Notably, the Rashba bands are significantly broadened in comparison to idealized expec… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
