Energy Efficient Multicast Routing Protocol for MANET with Minimum Control Overhead (EEMPMO)

Abstract: Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is a dynamic, multi-hop and autonomous network composed of light wireless mobile nodes. Multicast has great importance in MANET due to their inherent broadcast capability. However, due to the dynamic topology of MANETs to build optimal multicast trees and maintaining group membership a lot many control messages required. These overhead consume the mobile node resources like power and network resources like wireless links bandwidth that creates hurdle in implementing energy assuran… Show more

“…Abundant literature concludes that mobility factors like node velocity and direction and node degree to name a few influence link stabilities. Energy-efficient Multicast Routing Protocol MANET with Minimum Control Overhead (EEMPO) utilized the actual location of the nodes [42]. In another paper same authors propose Scalable Energy Efficient Location Aware Multicast Protocol (SEELAMP) which makes bidirectional shared tree as opposed to mesh, utilizing the position of the nodes [43].…”

“…Authors compared Energy Efficient Multicast Routing Protocol for MANET with Minimum Control Overhead (EEMPMO) with MAODV minimized the problem of delay because of the directional diffused forwarding routing and also Network segmentation problems occur when a link error arises due to primary root failure. And as a result, the need for maintenance and reconstruction of tree was also minimized by backup roots [20].…”
