Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation for Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer in GFDM Cooperative Communications

Abstract: Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) for generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) cooperative communications is proposed to save consumed energy of relay and destination. GFDM subsymbols are allocated for information decoding (ID) and energy harvesting (EH), respectively. Energy efficiency of SWIPT based GFDM system is maximized by jointly optimizing subsymbol and power allocations for ID and EH. A joint optimization algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal solution to the … Show more

“…Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is a method that enables simultaneous energy harvesting and information transfer, which generally uses signal splitting to achieve synchronization of energy collection and information decoding. To facilitate wireless information and power transfer at the receiver, two practical receiver architecture designs are proposed, namely power-splitting (PS) and time-switching (TS) [5], [6]. Perera et al [7] and Zewde et al [8] investigated the EH nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and SWIPT-NOMA systems, respectively, to explore the problem of solving the system's energy efficiency and spectrum utilization.…”
