Energy Efficient Routing Protocol Avoiding Route Breaks based on DSR

Abstract: An accelerating energy crisis in the oil and gas industry is driving development and investment in Mobile Ad Hoc Network technologies. The mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a self-configuring infrastructure-free network of mobile devices connected by wireless links; it is essentially a temporary wireless network which users who are willing to communicate form and who subsequently use multi-hop peerto-peer routing to provide the network connectivity. The nodes in MANET being mobile may result in dynamic topology… Show more

“…Many routing schemes have been investigated in the literature that deal with energy efficiency. Most of these schemes directly involve modifying the standard AODV or DSR routing protocols, with the aim to increase the energy efficiency in the networks without taking into account the secureness of the data packets transmission [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. Representative such schemes are discussed as follows.…”

“…In [14], Kumar et al introduced a new algorithm called Energy Aware Efficient DSR (EAEDSR) that avoids link breaks since they are energy consuming and uses routes according to the link and node stability. The node's stability used two metrics for calculation: the link expiration time and the remaining energy of the node.…”

“…Maximizing the network lifetime by minimizing the power consumption for the data transfer is the main aim of Energy aware routing protocols [11][12][13]. Optimizations carried out in these protocols are classified in the following schemes.…”
