Energy loss of heavy quarks in the isotropic collisional hot QCD medium at a finite chemical potential

Abstract: The collective modes that are the collective excitations in the hot QCD medium produced in the heavy-ion collision experiments have been studied. These modes being real or imaginary and stable or unstable affect the evolution of the medium. To go into the more profound analysis we incorporated several aspects of the medium such as anisotropy, the presence of medium particle collisions, and finite baryonic chemical potential. The first two facets have been studied several times from different perspectives but t… Show more

“…The energy exchange between the heavy quarks and the QGP has also been studied within the Langevin dynamics approach where on average the heavy quarks gain energy for the heavy quark momenta, p < p thermal = √ 3MT . In the current analysis, as well, it has been observed that if one combines the effect of field fluctuation and the medium polarization [30], the energy gain switches to energy loss at p ∼ p thermal at various values of other parameters. Therefore, a comparison between the two approaches will be examined soon.…”

“…Whereas, the third term corresponds to the average change in the energy of the moving heavy quark due to the correlation between the fluctuation in the velocity of the particle and the fluctuation in the chromo-electrical field in the plasma. The change in energy due to polarization has been studied earlier [30] and found that both charm and bottom quarks lose their energy while passing through the medium. Here, the main focus is to understand the effects on the change of energy of moving heavy quarks due to fluctuations in the medium.…”
