In the MICs, also, growth of exports declined fr om an annual rate of6.3% achieved in 1960-70 to 4.4% during 1970-79. Unless the strategies of the LDCs for self-sustenance include measures for increasing exports, their dependence on external fi nancing for energy (and other sectors of the economy) will continue to grow.…”
