Energy Savings and Carbon Emission Mitigation Prospective of Building’s Glazing Variety, Window-to-Wall Ratio and Wall Thickness

Abstract: Strategic selection of glazing, its window-to-wall ratio, and wall thickness of building reduce the energy consumption in the built environment. This paper presents the experimental results of solar optical properties of five glasses: clear, tinted bronze, tinted green, bronze reflective, and polymer dispersed liquid crystal glasses. Laterite room models were modeled with four different thicknesses and four different glasses using Design Builder, and thermal simulation tests were carried out using Energy Plus.… Show more

“…Research on a carbon tax may be traced back to the late 1980s when the revenue from such a carbon tax could be used to reduce the impact of other taxes on businesses, leading to more hiring and investing and a more prosperous economy (Cheng et al 2021 ). It has been suggested that the ideal forestry rotational and, by extension, the amount of carbon deposited in woods will be impacted by environmental taxes and subsidies (Shaik et al 2021 ). Examined how the price of carbon policies impacts supply chain operations for corporations.…”

“…The reduction in cooling load due to the replacement of glass type has also been reported by several experts, including Venkiteswaran et al [2], Albab & Adi [4] and Shaik et al [22], namely 9.5%, 6.2% and 18.9%, respectively. This material replacement is also more effective when compared to the method of flowing water between the glass layers, as reported by Imran et al [21], which was only able to reduce 6%.…”

“…In contrast, coated glass reduces the level of illumination in the room but decreases the quantity of external heat entering the room. Studies on reducing cooling load by replacing glass material have been conducted by several experts [20]- [22]. Shen & Li [20] conducted research using double glazing window embedded pipes, they reported that the developed method can absorb solar radiation up to 60%.…”

“…and constructions. Energy saving of the buildings is an interesting issue for investigations in recent years (Shaik et al, 2021;Akan et al, 2021). The important factors in the field of reducing energy consumption in buildings are climate conditions and insulation thickness.…”
