Energy transport in the three coupled α-polypeptide chains of collagen molecule with long-range interactions effect

Abstract: The dynamics of three coupled α-polypeptide chains of a collagen molecule is investigated with the influence of power-law long-range exciton-exciton interactions. The continuum limit of the discrete equations reveal that the collagen dynamics is governed by a set of three coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations, whose dispersive coefficient depends on the LRI parameter r. We construct the analytic symmetric and asymmetric (antisymmetric) soliton solutions, which match with the structural features of collagen r… Show more

“…It has been revealed that the solution of the hormonal wave is well a localized modulated solitonic wave called breather. In another regard, the breather has been revealed as mechanically important in other biophysical systems such as collagen [25], DNA [26], microtubule [27] systems. The correlation with the present work may indicate an important role of breathers and other nonlinear excitations in the dynamics of pancreatic islet β-cells.…”

“…Under certain conditions, they can move and transport energy along the system [25,26,27]. As recently demonstrated in [25], breathing modes are also responsible of energy sharing between α-polypeptide coupled chains.…”

“…Along the same line, it has been shown that the study of the power-law LRI in nonlinear lattice models is very relevant mainly in molecular chains and DNA molecules where Coulomb and dipole-dipole interactions are of a great physical importance [15,16,17]. Recent works by Mvogo et al [18,19] also indicated qualitative effects of the power-law LRI in molecular systems.…”

“…Then, in comparison to the model of Ref. [3], the present HR model is generalized via the presence of the term m =n K α (m − n)(u n − u m ) which characterizes long-range diffusive interaction in the system and can appear as an effective interaction in dispersive and complex systems [11,12,13]. The latter is due to the fact that the extracellular messenger can propagate from one cell to its direct neighbors and even extend to other neighboring non-contacting cells.…”
