Abstract

Energy drinks [EDs] are more commonly used by the young population as a source of dietary supplement [1]. Their consumption has dramatically increased in the USA from 2001 to 2010 [2]. It is estimated that 34% of 18-24-yearold males drink EDs on a regular basis, and up to 51% of college students drink at least one energy drink per month as an energy boost for studying, partying, or simple day-today activities [3]. In recent years, there has been increasing concern regarding the safety of EDs. They have been linked with several adverse cardiovascular events, including, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death [4-6]. There have been 9 previous case reports in the literature of STEMI associated with energy drink use by young people [7]. Case Report A 25-year-old previously healthy man presented the emergency department with 2 hours history of chest pain in New Year's Eve night. His symptom started 3 hours after drinking mixed 3 bottles of energy drink and alcohol.
