“…The energy levels of both PPAL and PPAD are calculated from cyclic voltammetry (CV). The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy levels of PPAL are at −5.95 eV and −3.95 eV, respectively showing a band gap value of 2 eV. The HOMO and LUMO energy levels of PPAD, measured from CV and they are at −6.02 eV and −3.69 eV, respectively, corresponding to band gap of 2.33 eV.…”

“…PPAL was synthesized by following the same procedure. [18] PPAD was synthesized by the same procedure. The 1 H NMR spectrum (Figure S1, Supporting Information) (DMSO-d 6 , 500 MHz) of PPAD exhibits a peak at ppm: 8…”

“…Since dealing with conductive polymers, the commonly used [Fe(CN) 6 ] 3− /[Fe(CN) 6 ] 4− solution gave rise to a narrow impedance spectrum with barely appreciable differences among the species. On the contrary, by adopting PBS 1X solution, we were able to measure the spectra shown in Figure , from which impedance of the order of kΩs are observable as a consequence of the tiny values of current brought by PBS solution . Due to its poor conductive properties, DNA is not included in Figure since its impedance is very large and, hence, out of scale.…”

“…On the contrary, by adopting PBS 1X solution, we were able to measure the spectra shown in Figure 5, from which impedance of the order of kΩs are observable as a consequence of the tiny values of current F I G U R E 5 Nyquist plots for PANI-ES, PANI, and pDANI. The lines express fitting results for corresponding EIS data, and the inset gives the equivalent circuit which includes the impedance characteristic of the electrodes described by the charge transfer resistance (R ct ), solution resistance (R s ) and double layer capacitance (C dl ) brought by PBS solution [46,47]. Due to its poor conductive properties, DNA is not included in Figure 5 since its impedance is very large [48] and, hence, out of scale.…”
