Enhanced adsorption of perfluorooctanoic acid using functionalized imidazolium iodide ionic liquid‐based poly (glycidyl methacrylate)

Abstract: Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are among the emerging pollutants of public health and the environment due to environmental persistence, bioaccumulation, and potential toxicity. Removal of PFAS under mild conditions is a challenge. Therefore, employment of organic functionality immobilized on polymeric sorbents has driven significant attention. Herein, new imidazolium‐based ionic liquid (IIL) covalently grafted on poly (glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) support was synthesized successfully and characte… Show more

“…A summary of the fitting parameters for each isotherm is given in Table . The Temkin isotherm and Dubinin–Radushkevich isotherm , were also evaluated but gave poorer fits in all cases except for Ionex 400 with iodate (see Supporting Information Figures S1 and S2 and Table S5). Figure shows the isotherm fits for Purolite A532E for which the Langmuir and L-F hybrid had good agreement for iodide, whereas the Freundlich isotherm was best for iodate.…”
