“…Recently, Di Wen at al developed and studied the use of dual-energy coronary calcium (DECC) processing method for CAC detection through dual energy chest radiograph, which provides low cost and radiation solution to CAC screening. 12 Before this study, Neves et al 13 reported a case of CAC detection in routine chest radiograph in a patient with the endstage renal disease. These studies divert our attention towards the use of Chest X rays -dual energy or routine Chest X rays-for coronary artery calcium detection and demand more research in this regard.…”

“…Dual-energy chest radiography in the PA projection is a mature technique, with many reports outlining advantages 14–16 . Dual-energy imaging to detect coronary calcium has been described previously, but adoption of the technique has been limited by partial obscuration of the coronary arteries on the PA projection by the overlapping sternum, vertebral bodies, and rib end cartilage calcification 17–19 . Because of this limitation, we implemented performing dual-energy chest radiographs in the lateral projection using existing equipment.…”

“…[14][15][16] Dual-energy imaging to detect coronary calcium has been described previously, but adoption of the technique has been limited by partial obscuration of the coronary arteries on the PA projection by the overlapping sternum, vertebral bodies, and rib end cartilage calcification. [17][18][19] Because of this limitation, we implemented performing dual-energy chest radiographs in the lateral projection using existing equipment. With technique refinements and training of technologists and radiologists, we now report our experience, with CT correlation.…”

“…It is a low-cost, low radiation and fast imaging exam. Recent studies also demonstrated the chest radiography's application on detection and evaluation of coronary artery diseases, which are usually evaluated using Computed Tomography (CT) with expensive cost and high radiation dose [10,11,12]. CAD techniques have been widely applied in chest radiography for task such as automatic diagnosis and patient image retrieval.…”
