Enhanced Fenton degradation of Rhodamine B over nanoscaled Cu-doped LaTiO3 perovskite

Abstract: a b s t r a c tCu-doped LaTiO 3 perovskite was prepared with a sol-gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The introduction of Cu induced the formation of LaTiO 3 perovskite in which titanium existed as Ti 3+ , resulting in the coexistence of Ti 3+/4+ and Cu +/2+ in the perovskite structure. LaTi 0.4 Cu 0.6 O 3 showed highly Fenton activity and stability for the degradation of RhB with H 2 O 2 in the initial pH range of 4-9. Moreover, the catalyst buffered the so… Show more

“…9B), which implied that the formation of LaFeO 3 -H 2 O 2 complex was essential and stable for the Fenton reaction process. [30][31][32], a heterogeneous Fenton catalytic mechanism of LaFeO 3 was proposed as follows:…”

“…Hence, the interference from the co-existing UOH in solution should be eliminated before HO 2U /O 2U − detection. (2) HO 2U /O 2U − can also be deduced from the observed scavenging by characteristic quenchers like benzoquinone (Zhang et al, 2012) (Table 2). However, it is almost impossible to distinguish similar organic oxidation products generated by HO 2U /O 2U − attack from UOH attack.…”
