“…It could be observed that the excitation spectra of the samples annealed at 750, 850, 950, 1050, 1150, and 1250°C exhibited a broadband excitation covering from 300 nm to 375 nm, and the main peak was around 360 nm which corresponds to the 1 A 1 -1 T 1 transition of VO 4 3-group as explain above [67]. The weak absorption peaks at longer wavelength region are originated from the general f-f transitions within the Eu 3+ -4f 6 electronic confi guration [66]. The excitation spectra show a strong absorption band in the UV as discussed above.…”

“…The absorption intensity of the general f-f transitions of the Eu 3+ ions at the longer wavelength region was very weak compared to VO 4 3-group. This indicates that the excitation of the Eu 3+ ions was mainly through VO 4 3-groups, i.e., by the energy transfer from the VO 4 3-groups to Eu 3+ ions [66]. It is clear that the VO 4 3-excitation spectrum of Ba 3-3x/2 (VO 4 ) 2 :xEu (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.3) extends into the near UV, so this blue-green phosphor can be effi ciently excited by 360 nm UV-LEDs.…”
