“…Chandradass et al obtained a RT magnetisation of 22.7 emu/g for magnesium ferrite using citrate gel method while they obtained 14.5 emu/g and 12.9 emu/g if they used reverse miscelle and coprecipitation techniques [16]. There have been some reports on the RT magnetisation values of magnesium ferrite prepared by combustion techniques which varied from 21 emu/g to 45 emu/g depending on the thermal treatment given [17][18][19]. A value of 45 emu/g was reported by Dalt et al by calcining at 1100°C [19].…”

“…2(a). In earlier reports [21,22], these additional three peaks are attributed to impurity phases as a-Fe 2 O 3 , unreacted metallic salt, etc. Hence, to identify these additional phases, Rietveld analysis of X-ray diffraction pattern is carried out using data refinement FULLPROF program.…”

“…Therefore, the reduced magnetization in nanoferrites is often connected to the existence of a "magnetically dead" layer at the surface of particles explained in terms of core-shell exchange-coupling [19], where a ferrimagnetic core is surrounded by a surface layer of canted spins. However, in the case of some nanoferrites the core-shell model failed to explain the enhancement of magnetization [20] [21] [22]. It is observed that the reduction of magnetic moment is observed only in the case when the effect of spin canting in the shell dominates over the effect of cation disorder; otherwise an unusual phenomenon like the magnetization enhancement may be expected [23].…”
