Enhanced magnetocaloric effect in a mixed spin-(1/2, 1) Ising-Heisenberg two-leg ladder with strong-rung interaction

Hamid Arian Zad,
Nerses Ananikian

Abstract: The magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of the mixed spin-(1/2,1) Ising-Heisenberg model on a two-leg honeycomb ladder with dimer-rung alternation are exactly examined under an adiabatic demagnetization process using the classical transfer-matrix formalism. We notify that the magnetization curve of the model exhibits plateaux as a function of the applied magnetic field and cyclic four-spin Ising interaction at certain rational fractions of the saturation value. It is evidenced that the model manifests an en… Show more

“…In the statistical mechanics of many-body spin systems, MCE has attracted renewed attentions because of the potential applications in underestanding the nature of thermodynamics of various materials [1][2][3][4][5]. One another important application of the MCE is the study of phase transitions by using the magnetocaloric anomalies at the magnetic phase transitions [6][7][8]. The standard quantity to characterize the MCE is the so-called magnetic Grüneisen parameter Γ B which can be implemented as a tool to detect and to investigate critical points [9,10].…”

“…We have widely investigated the magnetic and thermodynamic properties of a typical mixed-spin Ising-Heisenberg two-leg ladder in [42,43], also strong-rung interacting mixedspin Ising-Heisenberg two-leg ladder in [8]. The spin structure of these ladder-type models can be constructed from the two parallel saw-tooth chains or delta chains (see figure 1).…”
