“…14(b) shows the pseudo-first-order kinetics fitting results, and the kinetic constants ( k ) can be computed using the following equation: ln( C o / C ) = kt , where t is the irradiation time. 68 The kinetic constant is used to evaluate the photocatalytic degradation rate, and the obtained values of B1, B2, and B3 are 0.0246 min −1 , 0.0357 min −1 , and 0.0188 min −1 , which expresses that photocatalytic performances are consistent with the kinetical development. The kinetic constants of single phase β-Bi 2 O 3 and γ-Bi 2 O 3 crystals herein are comparable to the reported values in the works proposed by Chen et al and Hao et al towards photodegradation of aqueous RhB solution.…”

“…74 In this way, some of them can react with H 2 O molecules to form hydroxyl radicals, and others can efficiently remove organic dye accompanied by other reactive substances, which elucidates that h + occupies the majority to participate in the degradation process towards RhB solution. Simultaneously, the E CB (−0.62 V vs. NHE) of β-Bi 2 O 3 is more negative than the reduction potential (−0.33 V vs. NHE) of O 2 /˙O 2 − , 68 and the CB potential makes the oxygen acquire the electron to combine into the superoxide radical, which possesses strong reducibility. Finally, the unique band structure enriches the active species (h + , ˙OH, and ˙O 2 − ) to destroy RhB dye into environment-friendly degradation products.…”
