Enhanced photodegradation of hazardous tartrazine by composite of nanomolecularly imprinted polymer-nanophotocatalyst with high efficiency

Abstract: In this research, a nanocomposite of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-nanophotocatalyst for enhanced photodegradation of tartrazine with high efficiency and nanocomposite of non-imprinted polymer (NIP)-nanophotocatalyst were synthesized by precipitation polymerization and it was carried out in an aqueous medium to employ a green method. Acrylamide as functional monomer, N,N´-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linking agent, tartrazine as a template, and TiO 2 as a nanophotocatalyst were used. The synthesized… Show more

“…In the next step, we synthesized a nanocomposite of this nano‐MIP with TiO 2 using the same precipitation polymerization method with TiO 2 introduced at the beginning of the polymerization process. The nanocomposite has shown a promising result for photodegradation of TZ. Hence, we herein aim at the enhancement of the previous nanocomposite functionality by endowing it with a magnetic recovery property through the addition of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles into the composite.…”

“…The suitable dose per person is 0-7.5mg/kg body weight [10]. Tartrazine is considered as a dangeriouse azo dye because it catalyze ADHD syndrome, asthma, migraine and thyroid cancer , and other reactions can include blurred vision, itching, purpura, eczema, mutogenetics, and carcinogenetic [11].…”

“…In this regard, advanced oxidation procedures (AOPs) have been devised as effective methods, which involve the generation of highly reactive species such as hydroxyl (OH • ) and superoxide (O −• 2 ) radicals for the oxidation and destruction of organic pollutants [6]. Among these, nanosized heterogeneous semiconductors have gained an increasing attention and are now considered as a convenient candidate to substitute conventional methods for wastewater treatment.…”
