Enhanced Visible-Light-Sensitive Two-Step Overall Water-Splitting Based on Band Structure Controls of Titanium Dioxide and Strontium Titanate

Abstract: Visible light-induced two-step overall water-splitting was achieved by combining two types of photocatalysts, which were prepared by introducing foreign elements into rutile titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) and strontium titanate (SrTiO 3 ) with a controlled electronic band structure. Rutile TiO 2 and SrTiO 3 were doped with chromium and tantalum (Cr,Ta-TiO 2 ) and with rhodium (Rh-SrTiO 3 ), respectively, to introduce visible-light sensitivity. Under irradiation with only visible light from a 420-nm LED lamp, the si… Show more

“…14% of the O 1s spectra. Notably, the oxide of Sr is found at a slightly lower binding energy than other elements, with a response seen at 527 eV [72,73]. The lack of lattice oxygen observed may be a result of the surface sensitive nature of XPS with an analysis depth of ca.…”

“…The comparison of Sr and Ti peaks of RST and the CNGRS2 aerogel is provided in Figure h. For RST nanoparticles, it can be seen that Sr 2+ 3d spectra exhibit two symmetric peaks at 132.77 eV (3d 5/2 ) and 134.54 eV (3d 3/2 ), whereas Ti 4+ 2p peaks are observed at 458.33 (2p 3/2 ) and 464.03 eV (2p 1/2 ). , In the CNGRS2 aerogel, a slight shift toward higher binding energy was observed when RST was coupled with GCN and GO. A similar shift in the O 1s spectra (Figure S3b,c) was also observed.…”
