Abstract: This study comprises the production and characterization of multifunctional silica nanoparticles and their incorporation into Nafion for proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) applications. A two‐step method was used to produce Azole‐SiO2/Nafion; First, epoxy functional SiO2 nanoparticles were functionalized with 5‐Amino‐Tetrazole (Tet‐SiO2), 3‐Amino‐1,2,4‐Triazole (ATri‐SiO2), and 1H‐1,2,4‐Triazole (Tri‐SiO2) via ring opening of the epoxy unit.
