Enhancing elite autonomy: the role of cultural policy in post-authoritarian Chile (1990-2005)

Este estudio se pregunta por las características del actual consumo cultural en Chile y qué aportes pueden hacerse desde ahí a la discusión conceptual sobre la relación entre las formas de consumo cultural y las posiciones en la estructura social. El análisis se basa en los datos de la Encuesta Nacional de Participación Cultural 2017 del Ministerio de las Culturas de Chile. A partir de un análisis de clases latentes y un análisis de correspondencias múltiples, se identificaron seis perfiles con características sociodemográficas y prácticas culturales diferenciadas. Los resultados señalan que, primero, a pesar del diseño e implementación de una serie de políticas de acceso a la cultura, la desigualdad que caracteriza el consumo cultural en Chile no ha variado sustancialmente en la última década. Segundo, esa desigualdad corre paralela con la emergencia de gustos, significaciones y prácticas diversas que no correlacionan linealmente con la estructura sociodemográfica, matizando las tesis predominantes tanto acerca de la homología como del omnivorismo.
