Abstract:Weinig diergroepen op de Nederlandse Antillen zijn zó aantrekkelijk en zó opvallend als de vogels. In verband met het veel gebruikte gezegde, dat de Benedenwindse Eilanden niet meer zijn dan "kale rotsen", is dit feit niet alleen zeer merkwaardig, maar het loochenstraft bovendien deze bewering op overtuigende wijze.
