Organizations are being highly pressured to increase their competitiveness in order to deal with dynamic and turbulent markets. The development of an intelligent manufacturing system has been identified as an effective way to increase the competitiveness of enterprises. Traditional companies need models, skills, processes, and technologies to face the challenges imposed by today´s highly competitive markets, which require constant innovation. Sensing, Smart, and Sustainable (S^3) Enterprises play an important role in the digitization of strategies, decisions, and operations. They become efficient in facing the challenges intrinsic to the digital economy and intelligent manufacturing by applying the concepts of detection and monitoring, intelligence, and sustainability. The extant literature indicates the need for the development of methods and enterprise models that portray the reality of S^3 Enterprises. This paper presents an enterprise model to facilitate the formalization of S^3 Enterprises and help understand the dynamics of their operations. Applying the For Enterprise Modeling (4EM) method, this proposed enterprise model documents the goals, business rules, processes, and concepts of S^3 Enterprises. The contribution of this paper is the identification of guiding principles that allow companies interested in applying the S^3 concepts to have a basic reference mapped through perspectives of different knowledge domains.

<p>Este artículo presenta una revisión de diferentes modelos de programación matemática y técnicas de solución, aplicadas en la solución de problemas de diseño de redes de logística inversa, en donde se describen las principales contribuciones y se comparan varios tratamientos, modelos y algoritmos de solución. Adicionalmente, se ha desarrollado una aplicación al caso específico de la gestión de llantas fuera de uso en las ciudades de Pereira y Dosquebradas (Colombia), evaluando las alternativas que existen en la recuperación y valorización de este tipo de residuo, con el fin de incurrir en el menor costo posible y/o generar beneficios para la Región.</p>

A new method of underpinning business analysis by explicitly embedding architectural models of manufacturing enterprises into multi-level of abstraction enterprise and simulation models is described. The approach enables reachable behavioural responses of alternatively organised enterprises to be simulated in a virtual environment prior to costly and possibly inappropriate organisational change. The method allows high levels of organisational complexity to be handled leading to improved specification, integration and change management of large-scale information systems. The developed approach builds upon the state of the art in the integrated use of enterprise modelling and simulation techniques. New decomposition and representational techniques are described that are designed to enable computer execution of key structural properties of complex systems. A case study application of the developed model-driven approach is also illustrated.
