Enterprise resource planning adoption and satisfaction determinants

Abstract: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are at the core of every firm. Making people use this costly and time-consuming investment is one of the most important issues to deal with. The main objective of the present study is to find the key determinants that open the door to user satisfaction and adoption. A theoretical model was set and an online survey was conducted to understand ERP users' perspective on such matters. The outcome was the model validation and the understanding that top management support, … Show more

“…The second model which researchers working on ERP system success apply often, is one elaborated by DeLone & McLean [30] [52]. In case of DeLone & McLean IS success model (D&M model), user satisfaction and use are considered the main success drivers, the success being understood as net benefits for the individual and the organization [15]. The third base model used to measuring IS success is Task-Technology Fit (TTF) model belonging to the authors Goodhue and Thompson [16].…”

“…This model has a broader approach, a new set of constructs were introduced and related to PEOU. Also, new hypotheses were considered, such as the moderating effect of experience on key relationships [15].…”

“…While number of ERP solution user is growing, a lot of research studies regarding ERP user adoptions/acceptance are emerging (for example see Costa et al, 2016). The most used research models are (Awa et al, 2016): technology acceptance model (TAM; , theory of reasoned action (TRA; Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980), theory of planned behaviour (TPB; Ajzen, 1991), innovation diffusion theory (IDT; Rogers, 2003), stage model (SM; Poon & Swatman, 1999), technology-environment-organization (T-O-E; Tornatzky & Fleisher, 1990); and resource-based view (Caldeira & Ward, 2003).…”

In this area, TAM is one of the most suitable and widely used model to study adoption in IS (Shih and Huang, 2009;Sternad et al, 2011;Costa et al, 2016) and therefore numerous IS researchers apply this method to ERP research. The key purpose of TAM is to provide a basis for tracing impact of external factors on internal beliefs (perceived usefulness -PU and perceived ease of use -PEOU), attitudes (AT), intentions (behavioural intention -BI) and actual use .…”
