Enthalpies and Heat Capacities of Ethyl Acetate Solutions in Water and in Several Organic Solvents at 298–318 K

Abstract: The enthalpies of solution of ethylacetate (EtOAc) in water, octane and 1-octanol (OctOH) were measured at 298, 308 and 318 K using a precise isoperibol calorimeter. The standard enthalpies and heat capacities of these non-electrolyte solution were computed and compared with the previously obtained sol H • and C • p values in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). Partial molal heat capacities of EtOAc in water and in organic solvents were calculated and compared with the available literature values.

“…The methods for measuring the solubility of 2-(diacetoxymethyl)-5-nitrofuran in 11 pure solvents and (acetonitrile + tetrahydrofuran) binary solvent mixtures resembled those in the literature. , For each measurement, 6 mL of organic solvent and a specified amount of 2-(diacetoxymethyl)-5-nitrofuran were put in each 10 mL cuvette with a glass plug (to prevent evaporation of the solvent during stirring). The glass plugs were saved in a glass vessel for maintaining at the required temperature through an intelligent water-circulator thermostatic bath.…”
