Entrepreneurialism has emerged as a topic of considerable interest to those keen to see journalism deal with the ongoing disruptive processes of digital and economic transformation. A number of recent publications have sought to address the connection of entrepreneurialism to journalism (Rafter, 2018). As a result, entrepreneurialism—traditionally considered a topic in the realm of business—has moved centrally into discourse and analysis when consideration is given to the “future of journalism.” Three strands of this research are identified, namely, defining entrepreneurial journalism, the ethical issues associated with the close proximity of finance and editorial, and the role of higher‐level education when integrating entrepreneurialism into the journalism curriculum.
