This case study focuses on the development of an electric drive (e-drive) system, which is part of an integrated electric axle and was developed for a premium manufacturer's high performance, off-road, all-wheel drive passenger car. The e-drive consists of an e-motor, an inverter, and the required control software. In order to achieve the development targets, a holistic system approach was necessary. The development approach considered aspects from customer requirements to a fully tested product that was validated for high volume production.
