PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore the role of environmental awareness, environmental concerns, and green innovation toward green purchase intentions. This paper theoretically extends the existing knowledge on the subject matter and adds value to the existing knowledge.Design/methodology/approachBased upon the existing literature and relevant theories the study developed several assumptions/hypotheses. To test the hypothesis, a comprehensive data set that was collected through online survey method was utilized. For the empirical analysis the study employed structural equation modeling technique.FindingsThe results from the study indicated that environmental awareness significantly reinforce green purchase intentions. Whereas, the authors could not find evidence for the direct influence of green innovation on green purchase intentions. The analysis show, green product knowledge and environmental concerns partially mediate the relationship among environmental awareness and green purchase intentions. However, green product knowledge and environmental concerns fully mediate the relationship among green innovation and green purchase intentions.Originality/valueThe study measures the role of green innovation, environmental awareness, environmental concerns, and green product knowledge toward green purchase intentions which is pivotal for sustainable consumption. Similarly, the study adds value to the existing research on the management of environmental awareness and protection through reinforcing green purchases.

The concept of green buildings is one of the main features of sustainable urbanism. Additionally, sustainability oriented lifestyles have the potential to create a sustainable society, and have recently been understood to be a significant driving force behind sustainable development. Younger generations are the professionals and decision makers of the future. Therefore, both as individuals living in the 21st century which has witnessed many environmental catastrophes and as future professionals with a direct impact on the environment via architectural planning and design, it is crucial for interior architecture undergraduate students to acquire sufficient knowledge and perception with regard to sustainability, ecological design and construction in particular. Within this framework, a survey was conducted among 100 participants who were randomly selected undergraduate students in Nicosia. In the first section, several subjects were asked about their environmental awareness and knowledge regarding various issues, including the concept of green buildings. In the second section, the level of their environmental worldview was assessed and the third section measured the participants' environmental behaviours. Furthermore, interior architecture instructors' environmental awareness was also examined with the help of a disparate survey. The results revealed that the participants did not exhibit a high level of endorsement either for environmental knowledge of the concept of green buildings, environmental worldview or for environmental behaviours.

“…Este trabajo, por sí mismo, contiene implicaciones pedagógicas evidentes: las estrategias de aprendizaje para alcanzar el aprovechamiento de las actividades relacionadas con el compostaje, promueven en los estudiantes una actitud cívica y una actitud productiva para las instituciones y para la sociedad en general. En relación con el aprovechamiento y manejo de residuos sólidos, así como la participación en proyectos ambientales, los estudiantes mostraron actitudes favorables, como puede comprobarse por su participación en la mayoría de las actividades propuestas, lo cual concuerda con lo encontrado por otros investigadores, en distintos niveles educativos que comprenden desde primaria hasta superior (Asilsoy et al, 2017;Álvarez et al, 2022;Gok y Kilic, 2021;Gutiérrez Sabogal, 2017;Herrera, 2017;Novotny et al, 2021;Scott, y Suisberger, 2019;Stoeva y Alriksson, 2017;Yilmaz et al, 2021). También, indica que, consistentemente, después de la intervención por medio de estrategias didácticas específicas, los alumnos presentaron un cambio de actitud positivo en relación con el tratamiento de residuos sólidos y lograron establecer relaciones entre los problemas ambientales a escala local, con las condiciones que podrían derivar del cambio climático a nivel global.…”

Este trabajo se dedica a presentar una experiencia pedagógica en el área de Educación Ambiental, en la Institución Educativa Almirante Miguel Grau, Provincia de Ilo, Departamento de Moquegua, Perú. Se formuló como objetivo general develar el impacto de una estrategia en el proceso de aprendizaje de los contenidos específicos y la respuesta motivacional de los discentes hacia los temas relacionados con la problemática ambiental, tanto a escala local como global. La estrategia se vinculó, especialmente, con la recolección y clasificación primaria de residuos sólidos, cuya inadecuada disposición genera la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero. La población intervenida estuvo conformada por 50 estudiantes de 5° año de bachillerato; la información recolectada con un cuestionario fue procesada mediante el Programa SPSS. Las actividades fueron coordinadas por los docentes, con el apoyo de la comunidad educativa. La evaluación de los resultados permitió considerar como altamente exitosa la estrategia aplicada.
