“…In general, pesticide concentrations found in our study were relatively lower than those found in other matrices of the same region (e.g., Lajmanovich et al, 2023; Peluso et al, 2022). It is interesting that both SCC and LTS contain various pesticides that might be runoff from the surrounding crops.…”

“…Atrazine is a ubiquitous herbicide that is widely used in crops such as corn and sorghum. It was detected in all point sites here studied, and it was already recorded in several streams and rivers from Argentina (Alonso et al, 2018; Peluso et al, 2022; Pérez et al, 2017) and one explanation is that atrazine and other two herbicides, 2,4‐D and glyphosate, are the most used pesticides in transgenic crops. In this sense, 2,4 D was also detected in both sites of study.…”

“…Moreover, a third of the planet's endangered species are amphibians, and they are the most vulnerable group among the world's vertebrates (IUCN, 2022). In this sense, the chemical contamination of their aquatic habitats is an important factor that causes this decrease (Egea‐Serrano et al, 2012), especially by the effluent of agro‐industrial environments (Ali et al, 2011; Peluso, Aronzon, et al, 2022). This vulnerability is a direct consequence of skin permeability (Blaustein et al, 2003), and their biphasic life cycle, mostly associated with aquatic environments (Kerby et al, 2010).…”
