Environmentally constrained reliability‐based generation maintenance scheduling considering demand‐side management

Abstract: This paper scrutinizes the impacts of demand-side resources (DSRs) on the power system reliability via a novel multi-target generation maintenance (GM) model. The nominated model uses the Lexicographic preferences to hierarchically consider the environmental issues, economics, and reliability of power systems. In this regard, the produced emission, which reflects the per unit produced pollutant values in different locations, is minimized. Taking into account the environmental constraints, the total incurred ex… Show more

“…On the other hand, our scenario analyses result in a large optimization plateau that presents many technologies as valid solutions, thus limiting the risk of costly wrong decisions at the political level. Last but not least, apart from the generation side, exploring carbon reduction potentials from the demand side with options such as carbon cap, cap-and-trade, and carbon tax also play a vital role in achieving a low carbon energy system (see e.g., [47][48][49][50][51]).…”

“…By solving (1)-(8), the vector of marginal prices,  , is formed by the Lagrange multipliers associated with the active power balance in (2). Finding the Lagrange multipliers in a linear system is an easy task; however, in order to find these multipliers in a nonlinear model, an iterative process is used.…”

“…INTRODUCTION HE progress and evolution of a country highly depends on electricity [1]. However, each technology used to generate electricity has undesired by-products such as emissions and other harmful environmental impacts [2].…”

“…However, the major problem with the pairwise comparison method is an exponential increase in the number of comparisons as the number of criteria increases. One method to reduce the number of comparisons is to design the higher-level hierarchical model for evaluation, and another method is presenting the problem as a multi-objective optimization problem with suitable constraints such as [54][55][56]. Razael [57] proposed the best-worst MCDM method that reduces the pairwise comparison of criteria by comparing the best criterion among the other criteria as well as comparing the worst criterion among them.…”
