Studies have shown that the optimal composition for producing M125 grade bricks is a composition containing 20 % shale coke. X-ray phase studies have shown that when bricks are fired from interstitial clay, the following new minerals are formed: cristobalite, hematite and anorthite, and the introduction of 20 % shale coke into the ceramic mass contributes to the additional formation of wollastonite and diopside, which increase strength characteristics, reinforcing effect, reduce shrinkage during drying and firing, reduce the tendency of ceramic products to crack formation.
