Eosinophilia With Hepatic Mass and Abnormal Liver Function Tests: An Unusual Presentation of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Abstract: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a chronic myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by excess granulocytes at different stages of maturation and the presence of BCR-ABL1 fusion gene or Philadelphia chromosome. Absolute eosinophilia, basophilia, and monocytosis are not uncommon in CML. However, a rare entity called eosinophilic variant of CML (eoCML) can present with eosinophilia without excess neutrophils or basophils. Here, we report a rare and unusual case of eoCML presenting as a li… Show more

“…Cases analyzed were restricted to those in English language journals and published in the tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) era. Five individual cases CML deemed to have the eosinophilic variant of CML were identified (Aggrawal et al, 2009[ 1 ]; Chhabra and Verma, 2020[ 2 ]; Gotlib et al, 2013[ 3 ]; Ray et al, 2021[ 6 ]; Yerrapotu et al, 2020[ 7 ]) with the patient clinical details summarized in Table 1 (Tab. 1) (References in Table 1: Aggrawal et al 2009[ 1 ]; Chhabra and Verma, 2019[ 2 ]; Gotlib et al, 2003[ 3 ]; Ray et al 2021[ 6 ]; Yerrapotu et al, 2020[ 7 ]).…”
