EPIC/DSCOVR as a Pathfinder in Cloud Remote Sensing Using Differential Oxygen Absorption Spectroscopy

Abstract: We argue that the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) on the Deep Space Climate ObserVatoRy (DSCOVR) platform has blazed new pathways in observational technology, starting with its ∼ 1.5 × 106 km stand-off distance, but also in remote sensing science.
