Epidemiological Patterns of Cancer Incidence in Southern China: Based on 6 Population-based Cancer Registries

Abstract: Background: The epidemiological patterns of cancer incidence have been investigated widely in western countries. Nevertheless, information is quite limited in Jiangxi province, southern China. Materials and Methods: All data were reported by 6 population-based cancer registries in Jiangxi Province. The results were presented as incidence rates of cases by site (ICD-10), sex, crude rate (CR), age-standardized rates (ASRs) and truncated incidence rate (TR) per 100,000 person-years, using the direct method of sta… Show more

“…Meanwhile, Lung cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death among men and women in China, contributing to 0.5 million deaths each year (Xie et al, 2012;She et al, 2013;Deng et al, 214;Liu et al, 2014). In light of this high prevalence of lung cancer and HBV infection in certain areas, lung cancer patients who are concurrently infected with HBV are frequently seen.…”

“…Due to high prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and cancer in some developing countries, especially China, concurrent infection with HBV is not uncommon in cancer patients (Sun et al, 2002;Lu et al,2010;Xie et al, 2012;She et al, 2013;Deng et al, 2014;Liu et al, 2014). Recently, the association of HBV infection and cancer has been extensively investigated.…”

“…There were 8, 000, 000 new incidence cases and 5,300,000 new death cases in the less developing regions (Ferlay et al, 2012;Chen et al, 2013). The cancer incidence and mortality rates are continuously increasing in the Asian Pacific region Curado et al, 2008;NCRP 2013;Liu et al, 2014).…”

“…In addition, the incidence of lung cancer has been rising steadily (Jemal et al, 2011;Fathallah et al, 2013;Liu et al, 2014). Nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for 80% of all pulmonary carcinomas.…”
