“…Although not identified in all cases, many risk factors for CCA development, whether infectious or otherwise, indicate a common pathogenesis pathway, the development of chronic biliary inflammation. 11,26,27 Liver infection by flukes Clonorchis sinensis and Opisthorchis viverrinin is an important risk factor in Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand, where CCA is the main primary liver cancer.
