Epidemiology of Leishmaniasis in Palestine

Abstract: Leishmaniasis is an infectious disease caused by different species of Leishmania parasites and transmitted by a sand fly vector. The disease is prevalent in the West Bank, but not in Gaza Strip. Reports by the Palestinian Ministry of Health indicated a dramatic increase in the incidence of the disease.
